The functional medicine range for TSH is 1.0-2.0, but the traditional medical range is under 4.5. So what happens if your TSH is 3.0? It is not a conventional hypothyroid, but it is a functional hypothyroid and does need support. And Free T3 is all about optimal metabolic health; it must test around a 3.2. But again, the traditional range is around 2.0, which is relatively low.
